
A Lake District driver – who was tracked down by police after hitting a wall – has been arrested after officers found suspected drugs in his underwear.
Cumbria police said they were called yesterday, Tuesday December 9, after a black Mercedes was spotted being driven erratically in Windermere, at around 9.20pm.
It was reported the car had spun before colliding with a wall and then had drove off.
officers tracked the car down and stopped it as the driver was about to pull onto the M6 at Junction 36 at around 9.45pm.
The driver, a 25-year-old man from Lancashire, was arrested on suspicion of driving whiledisqualified, driving without insurance and after failing a roadside drugs wipe.
He was also arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs after suspected drugs – alleged to be crack and heroin – were discovered hidden in his underwear.
He has been released while enquiries continue.
