Puss in Boots will arrive at Upfront Puppet Theatre this week.
This year’s Christmas production at the theatre, near Hutton-in-the-Forest, is a magical retelling of the classic fairy tale.
It will be performed from Sunday, December 14 until January 2.
This faithful adaptation brings the beloved story to life with a cast of expertly crafted long string marionettes, stunning special effects and an original musical score.
The story begins with three sons inheriting very different gifts: one receives a mill, another a donkey, and the youngest is left only a cat.
But this is no ordinary cat — he can talk, and he’s on a mission to change his master’s fortunes.
Through clever tricks and bold moves, the cat helps his master rise in status to become the Marquis of Carabas, outwitting a powerful ogre and securing a royal marriage.
Upfront Arts Venue is home to one of only four puppet theatres in England.

The show is staged with traditional marionettes, changing scenery, lighting and special effects and has remained a favourite part of its repertoire.
Parents who came as children now bring their own to see the show.
Tables may be booked in the onsite cafe for lunch or tea and cakes afterwards. There is a special meal deal for children.
The show lasts about one-and-a-half hours, including an interval.
After the show, ask questions and meet the puppets and puppeteers and take photographs – the session is included in the ticket.
Suitable for ages four to 94.

Performance days are: December 14, 20-24, 27-30, January 2-4.
Performances begin at 2pm.
Tickets: Children £8.50, adults £10, family £32 (2 adults & 2 children or 1 adult & 3 children)
