Aspatria Pool League leaders Sun Inn A struggled to a 5-4 win against Letters A in a game that could easily have gone the other way.

The Letters could have come out on top if they had taken their chances but there were still standout performances from their pair Kev Thurlow and Rod Campbell.

Sun Inn FC bounced back to winning ways with a comfortable 6-3 win against in-form Wigton Rugby Club as Jordan Falcon and Tommy Allen crucially won both games.

Miners A travelled to Cumberland B, in what turned out to be the best match of the night.

Stu Irwin, Karl Charters and Paul Clarke helped Miners take a 3-1 lead before Steve Mattinson and Joe Thompson pulled it level for Cumberland.

Miners won the first two doubles to clinch the match from a 5-4 score-line.

Letters B played host to Wigton Park BC and the visiting team stormed to a 4-0 lead with wins from Brady Bell, Steve Farish, Kyle Thomson and Caden Corrigan.

A Letters comeback meant they trailed 4-2 after the singles, but after winning the first double, Wigton Park ran out 6-3 winners.

In another close match Miners B narrowly beat Cumberland A by 5 frames to 4.

Kane Lennon put Cumberland 1-0 up before the match swung both ways and it was evenly poised at 3-3 after the singles.

Cumberland took a 4-3 lead, but Miners came back strongly to win the match, with Chris Hird and Pete Mortimer in great form, winning both their games.

Jobby Dunn and Willie Graham (Cumberland) were also unfortunate to lose the last frame against Pete Mortimer and Richard Sunderland.
