A stuffed badger who disappeared while on a staff night out has been returned.
Workers from the Glen Rothay and Badger Bar in Ambleside took the 100-year-old badger, known as Bertie, to the village’s White Lion Hotel for their Christmas party.
But it was taken while staff were out of the room by some men last Sunday, December 8.
Police issued an appeal for Bertie’s return and South Lakes Police said they were reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
However, Bertie returned to the Badger Bar last night, Friday December 12.
In a social media post, Glen Rothay and Badger Bar said: “Bertie has just staggered back through the front door!
He seems to have had a merry time , his hat and tinsel have fallen off, and he’s not telling what he’s been up to.

“But he’s been well looked after and we’re grateful for that.
“Thank you to everyone who cared enough to share Bertie’s story and for the fabulous publicity that has led to his return.
“Do come and see Bertie back on his rock beside the bar, when we reopen at Christmas.”
