
A healthy number of tickets in Workington Victoria’s final double-show last night catapulted Johnny Dolan and daughter to the top of the exhibitors.
They picked up three tickets in the all-ticket class and another three in the fancy coloureds to earn 48 points and win the Northern Trophy for most points in the winter series.
Williams and Hadfield had won the all ticket class and had seventh as well but they finished with 40 points for the series, with Alan Bromley third with 36 points.
Johnny won the fancy coloureds class with one that Williams and Hadfield had bred him.
Kieron Doyle of the Ellenborough Club was the judge on the final night and he had to cast his eyes over 40 entries.

His selections were – All Tickets: 1, 7, Williams and Hadfield; 2, 3, 8, Dolan and daughter; 4, N Semple; 5, 6, Bromley and co.
Fancy coloureds: 1, 6, 8, Dolan and daughter; 2, 4, Williams and Hadfield; 3, N. Semple; 5, Varty, son and grandson; 7, Mr and Mrs W Carter and sons.

Most points: 1, Dolan and daughter 48; 2, Williams and Hadfield 40; 3, Bromley and co 36.

Flimby Homing Society had completed their winter series and Wednesday’s show for the first of their show race events was for the longest inland race and drew 49 any age cock entries.
Mark Hodgson won the show with a two-year-old blue cock which he obtained from Woodruffe brothers from the North East.

Paul Kenny was the judge and he gave tickets as follows: 1, Hodgson and Saldert; 2, Fitzsimmons and son; 3, 6. Varty, son and grandson; 4, Dobson and son; 5, 8, Berwick and Watson; 7, Nelson and Crellin.
Next Wednesday’s show is for the channel and is open to any age hens. Judging in the Flimby Sports and Social Club is at 7.30pm.
