Workington boss Billy Barr will be watching another NPL Premier Division game this afternoon as Reds do not have a fixture.
He has chosen the game between play-off rivals Warrington Rylands and Lancaster City, which is fifth versus fourth.
Lancaster, now managed by former Kendal Town boss Jimmy Marshall, are due at Borough Park on New Year’s Day.
Reds have had two training sessions as usual this week with goalkeeper Alex Mitchell back again after missing the last three games with an injury and on Thursday night he was able to complete the full session.
Dav Symington, however, has missed out because of a knee problem and he will be assessed in a week’s time ahead of Reds next game which is at home to Stockton (Dec 20).
The Boxing Day game has been put back 24 hours to December 27 with Reds facing an unusually long trip for a festive fixture.
Looking back at the two sessions this week Barr told Cumbria Crack: “Training has gone well and although we did have limited numbers on Tuesday it was still a good session.
“On Thursday night we integrated three of the Under-23s into the session – Josh Palmer, Joe Carney and Leo Brennan as well as one of the Under-18s Harrison Telford.”
The Under-23s have made an impressive start to their programme and are nine points clear at the top of the Lancashire League with Palmer helping himself to a hat-trick in the latest 8-1 win at Macclesfield.
He has already had a brief runout as a late substitute with the first team in a league game at Borough Park.
While Barr is at the NPL game this afternoon, his assistant Lee Andrews will take in a local game.
