Two Cumbrian communities are set to have a mobile Post Office service following the resignation of its current operators.

Shap Post Office will close on Tuesday, December 23 and Tebay Post Office, which operates out of Tebay Sports and Social Club, will close on December 31.

However, the Kirkby Stephen postmaster will add the villages to its mobile service from January 14.

The mobile service will stop outside the Old Post Office in Shap every Wednesday from 9am to 10am.

It will visit Tebay in the car park of the Cross Keys Pub every Wednesday between 10.45am and 11.45am.

To accommodate these extra stops there will be some changes to the current opening hours for Brough, Bolton village and Great Ashby from Tuesday January 13.

New opening times for Brough

  • Tuesday: 10.45am to 2.15pm
  • Wednesday 12.30pm to 4pm
  • Thursday 10.30am to 2pm

New opening times for Bolton

  • Tuesday 2.45pm to 3.45pm

New opening times for Great Asby

  • Thursday 2.30pm to 3.30pm
