Whitehaven and Barrow are set for a pre-season head-to-head.
The pair are set to meet home and away in the new-style Championship but will get a look at each other on Saturday, January 3.
It will be the first serious action for Haven with a 2pm kick-off at Craven Park.
Entry for adults is £12 while juniors go free.
Barrow actually start a week earlier with another home friendly on Sunday, December 28 against North Wales Crusaders.
A week later it will be Shane Toal’s testimonial fixture with Scotland on January 10.
Haven coach Anthony Murray, a former Barrow player, said: “It will be a tough task, Barrow have recruited well and they will be well drilled.
“There is a lot of experience in that team so I’m anticipating a tough test but at the same time I’m quite excited to see how our lads go.
“Everyone will play and we will rotate people around ahead of the Ike Southward memorial fixture.”
Haven will be going to the Fibrus Community Stadium on Sunday, January 11 to take on Workington in the annual challenge match.
It begins in earnest a week later when the new-look Championship gets underway.
Haven have a visit from Sheffield and Barrow start by entertaining Workington.
