West Cumbrian speedway ace Dan Bewley is to take part in an indoor motocross event next year.
The Maryport rider, currently ranked third in the world, will line up in the Arenacross Pro-Am class for the very first time.
The Arenacross Pro-Am class is renowned for close-quarter battles, elbows-out racing and moments of controlled chaos.
Add a rider who has built a career controlling motorcycles at extreme speed with no brakes, and the spectacle is set to reach another level entirely.
Bewley is no stranger to the Arenacross environment. At the start of 2025, he lined up in the Arenacross Celebrity Mini Bike Race in Manchester, where he charged through the field to finish in second place, despite giving the rest of the field a significant head start.
It was a light-hearted race — but one that offered a clear reminder of his natural speed, race intelligence and instinct to compete, regardless of machinery.
Bewley is a five-time Speedway Grand Prix winner, third overall in the 2025 Speedway World Championship, and two-time Speedway of Nations champion.
While 26-year-old Bewley is synonymous with speedway success, his journey began in motocross. He started racing at just five years old and spent over a decade progressing through the schoolboy motocross ranks.
Still racing a big-wheel 85cc machine at the age of 16 — the same size used in Arenacross’ Supermini class — the move to full-size machinery didn’t make financial sense at the time.
Reflecting on his switch to speedway, Bewley says: “I was looking for something to do and got into speedway.
“Being used to motocross among a lot of riders, I got a reputation in speedway as being a pretty good passer, because a lot of those kids aren’t used to having so many riders around them. Motocross definitely helped that, and I just kept getting better at speedway!”
So when TRUE Customs team boss Troy Wharton asked if he fancied joining an Arenacross team for 2026, Bewley’s answer was immediate. “I didn’t take much persuading!” he added.
Fans have already had a glimpse of what Bewley could be capable of indoors, having seen him ride a Stark VARG around Dylan Woodcock’s Arenacross practice track on his own YouTube channel — comfortably tackling jumps, combinations and the whoops with confidence.
With speedway riders renowned for explosive starts and ruthless opening laps, Bewley could quickly establish himself as a genuine Pro-Am contender — and perhaps more.
His competitive edge and fearless mentality make him one of the most intriguing additions to the 2026 Arenacross Tour.
In Britain Bewley rides for Belle Vue Aces after starting his career in speedway with Workington Comets.
