Billy Barr is considering an appeal over the sending off of full-back Charlie Barnes during Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Stockton.
Barnes was shown a straight red card by referee Ethan Murray after a challenge with Cameron Painter he considered reckless and dangerous.
Painter was substituted 10 minutes later with a gashed knee but Reds boss Barr did not consider the incident was worthy of a red card.
He said: “I watched the video as soon as I got home on Saturday and my impression is it was nothing like the referee saw it.
“He said that Charlie had two feet off the ground and ultimately his decision has changed the game in the opposition’s favour.
“Both lads are in the same shape sliding in and the Stockton lad is just a little bit quicker to the ball and Charlie follows through.
“The lad hits Charlie’s knee rather than his foot or studs and I don’t think it’s reckless in any way.
“As a club we will now consider whether we put in an appeal. I felt gutted for the lads after how they responded with 10 men.
“We are fighting for our lives and things are just going against us.”
Reds will train tomorrow night and then have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas and Boxing Day with their families as the game at Cleethorpes has been put back to Saturday.
Barr, meanwhile, continues to work on drafting in new faces to boost his squad in the new year. He has been talking to a striker and two experienced midfielders.
Tyler Magliore, who has been a classy addition, looks as though he could be on the move to Scotland in the new year but will be available for the game at Cleethorpes.
