A song has been released to support the work of a South Cumbrian women’s organisation.

Sam Salisbury, who first visited Women’s Community Matters in 2022, has written, recorded and produced the single to raise awareness of its work and raise vital funds.

Women’s Community Matters, in the Nan Tait Centre in Barrow, aims to make a difference to the lives of women, young girls aged 11 and above and young men aged 11 to19 in the Barrow area. It wants to create a strong resource for women and young people in crisis and those who are vulnerable and at risk.

Eight people a day looking for help or advice approach the charity with 2,793 recorded last year.

The charity was recently awarded £100,000 from Team Barrow and its chair, Lord Simon Case, visited the centre last week to find out more about its work.

Sam wrote the song after asking women who attend the centre to describe what the centre meant to them, using what they said as the words for the song set to her own original composition.
