Youths have thrown items, including chairs and glass bottles, from a Workington bridge onto the road and pavement below.
Allerdale police said officers were continuing to receive reports of youths throwing things from the bridge on Ladies Walk.
They said reports also included items like eggs, stones, plates, crockery and pots.
Allerdale police said: “This is extremely dangerous and if these items were to hit a person below it could result in serious injury or even worse fatal injury.
“There is simply no excuse for this behaviour.
“If such an incident occurred whereby a member of the public was seriously or fatally injured, there will be no social media post of the offender being marched through the town picking litter and cleaning windows, there will be one of the offender facing prosecution.
“It cannot be impressed upon enough how serious and dangerous this behaviour is.”
Police said they were targeting the area to prevent and deter further incidents and are conducting enquiries in relation incidents already reported in order to identify the offenders.
They encouraged people to report such behaviour to police.
