A stalwart of Stagecoach’s Barrow bus operation has retired after 40 years in the industry.
David Lloyd, of Millom, retired this week after four decades, including more than 33 years as a leading driver and inspector at Stagecoach’s Barrow depot.
David said he was looking forward to swapping early morning starts and depot life for time on the golf course.
Stagecoach said: “David leaves behind an exceptional legacy of dedication, professionalism and service.
“Throughout his career, he has become a trusted and respected figure among colleagues, sharing decades of operational knowledge and experience that has helped support both customers and fellow employees.”
Willie McPhail, operations manager at Stagecoach Barrow, said: “David has been an exceptional colleague whose commitment to Stagecoach and our customers has never wavered.
“Over 40 years, he has built a wealth of knowledge and experience that simply cannot be replaced.
“On a personal note, I’d like to thank David for his dedication and commitment to the company.
“In the time I’ve known him, he hasn’t had a single day’s sickness; something we can all admire. If only our buses could last as long and be as reliable!
“Everyone at Barrow depot wishes David a long, happy and healthy retirement.
“He has certainly earned it, and we hope he enjoys spending more time on the fairways than behind the wheel.”
