Kendal Town play their second Cumbrian derby in succession when they host Carlisle City at Parkside Road tomorrow.
A feisty derby at Penrith on Saturday saw them snatch a late 2-1 victory but they suffered two late red cards.
Jason Walker was sent off near the end and Niall Cowperthwaite suffered a similar fate after the final whistle. Both will miss the game tomorrow.
Kendal are desperate to get the game on, however, because of cashflow issues.
They haven’t played them many home games recently and in the latest fixture list they have received there is a six week gap between home games.
Freezing weather has been forecast overnight and Kendal chairman Michael O’Neill has asked for volunteers to assist in putting covers down on the pitch today.
It’s likely that a pitch inspection will be made around 10.30am tomorrow to see whether it is fit for play.
Carlisle City have even more issues than Kendal with two players on holiday and six more ruled out through injury.
They were beaten 1-0 last Saturday at home by Newcastle Blue Star.
Penrith will be looking to bounce back from that Kendal defeat when they travel to Thornaby.
Manager Jim Nichols also picked up a red card in that Kendal defeat but the punishment for that hasn’t come through and he will be able to take his place in the dug-out.
Penrith will be taking a full-strength playing squad to Thornaby who sit 16th, four places and seven points behind their Cumbrian visitors but with a game in hand.
