
Work has started to remove storm debris at a West Cumbrian bridge.
Recent flooding left a large amount of debris lodged against Wath Bridge in Cleator Moor, creating a potential flood risk.
Cumberland Council said specialist contractors and divers had been monitoring river conditions to ensure safe removal.
The first safe window has only just opened and work began today, Friday January 2.
The Cleator Moor to Egremont road and the Cleator Moor to Ennerdale road is closed today until Monday, January 5.
The bridge will is closed today and Saturday, January 3, between 8am and 4pm.
On Monday, the bridge will be closed for several hours – although no times have been revealed.
