A new series of indoor kayaking and canoe polo sessions will launch in Kendal aimed at introducing more young people, beginners, and women and girls to paddlesport.

The sessions at the town’s leisure centre, will run on Saturdays from 4pm from this week, January 17, and consist of three sessions, each lasting 45 minutes, allowing participants to join at a level that suits their experience and confidence.

All sessions are led by fully qualified coaches and sessions include beginner kayaking and boat skills, an introduction to canoe polo and on alternate weeks, advanced polo and women and girls canoe polo.

Thanks to grant funding from Cumbria Canoeists, the sessions are being offered at a reduced cost to help remove financial barriers, while the programme becomes established.

Session costs:

  • Women & Under-16s: £5 per 45-minute session, capped at £10 per person per day
  • Over-16s: £10 for the first 45-minute session, then £5 for any additional sessions

All equipment is provided, and no prior experience is needed for the beginner sessions.
