A man has admitted being involved in the supply of drugs to other people.
When he appeared this morning at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court remotely, over a video link, 22-year-old Fergus Meanwell pleaded guilty to two offences.
Both involve being concerned in the supply of controlled class B drugs — ketamine, between June 26 2023, and April 1 2024 and cannabis between June 2023 and June 14 2024.
Court papers show Meanwell committed the crimes in the Tebay area.
He did not enter any pleas to a third charge — possessing cannabis, with intent to supply, on Friday June 14 2024.
The prosecution concluded that guilty pleas to the two being concerned charges were an acceptable resolution of the case.
District judge Philip Holden said he agreed, in view of the low level of drugs recovered. There would be no material difference to the eventual sentence by proceeding with the third allegation, the district judge added.
Meanwell, of Doomgate, Appleby, is due to be sentenced at the magistrates’ court on February 10, following the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report.
In the meantime he has been granted bail.
