Plans have been revealed for two new play areas in Bransty in Whitehaven.

The larger of the two play areas will be located within the grounds of Bransty School, on the spacious grassed area.

Designed for children aged four and above, this new facility will be open to the public outside of school hours, with access provided via South View Road.

The second play area will be created beside the new community gardens, near Harbour View Nursing Home and the playing field.

This space will be specially designed for preschool-aged children.

People can help shape what the play areas will look like and an event will be held at Bransty School on Thursday, January 29 from 3.30pm to 6pm.

For those unable to attend in person, an online survey is available.

Joseph Ghayouba, councillor for Bransty added: “I’m pleased to see us hitting another key milestone in the delivery of a play park for Bransty, and I urge as many parents and children to come along to the consultation and respond online too.”

The new play areas will be fully funded by Cumberland Council.
