Millom produced the best performance in the West Lancashire League when they beat highly-rated Lostock St Gerard’s 2-1.
The South Cumbrians bounced back well after last week’s 2-0 home defeat by Cleator Moor Celtic and fought back to win after falling behind.
Dale Bury had given Lostock the lead after 22 minutes but Millom came back level with a bullet header from Callum High nine minutes later.
It was a battle after that for dominance but Millom edged it and deserved the winner – albeit two minutes from time and from the penalty spot.
Top-scorer Ben McDonald sent the Lostock keeper the wrong way to wrap up the points.
Lostock had been looking to close the gap on leaders Eagley, starting and finishing the game in second place.

Both West Cumbrian sides suffered home defeats as Cleator Moor Celtic went down 4-2 to Aston and Buckshaw United while Whitehaven lost 4-0 to third in the table Haslingden St Mary’s.
Celtic were undone by defensive mistakes which cost them dearly in what was an overall poor performance.
Manager Gareth Agnew felty he could have changed all 11 players at half-time if allowed.

They fell behind in the first minute when Samir Sobeih took advantage of the first error and although Rhys Little came up with an equaliser on 14 minutes the visitors were helped into a 3-1 interval lead with more home errors.
Callum Williams (20) and Sabeih (38) scored the goals for the visitors and they increased their lead three minutes into the second-half as Sabeih completed his hat-trick.

Little scored his second goal for Celtic on 71 minutes but it was too little too late on a day to forget for the home side.

Brian Dawson took charge of Whitehaven for the first time and it was a tough baptism against third in the table Haslingden St Mary’s.
He needed a solid start but Whitehaven conceded twice in the first quarter of the game through Leon Barker-Williams and Lewis Hanley.
The home side did get into the game and played well enough in the middle period of the game, creating some good opportunities but couldn’t take them.
They weren’t helped by a 50th minute own goal while Hanley added his second after 70 minutes.

Milnthorpe Corinthians were on Westmorland County Cup duty and were 4-0 winners over Wetheriggs.
Rob Wilson (2), Robbie Mooring and substitute Cameron Hollywood scored the goals for Corinthians who had led 1-0 at half-time.
