Former Workington Comets star Peter Kildemand is backing Berwick Bandits to be a real force in this season’s Cab Direct Championship.
Kildemand returned to the UK last year and became a popular figure at Shielfield Park, with a late run of form from the team seeing them end the campaign in fifth place.
The rebuilt side for 2026 sees new signing Victor Palovaara join Kildemand and Nick Morris as heat leaders, and Kildemand is optimistic for their chances.
He said: “I think we have strong heat leaders but everyone in the seven can dig in and I expect us to be strong, not just at home but on away tracks too.
“We ended last season very strongly but it was bittersweet as we still missed the play-offs. But we need to pick up where we left off in 2026.
“Returning to British racing was a good move and one that I enjoyed. It was an easy decision to return to Berwick in 2026.”
The 36-year-old Dane rode for the Comets at Derwent Park in 2010 and 2011 when he was sampling British speedway for the first time.
