Lucky Legend has first pups of 2026

Lisa, Holly and Graham Whitefield, Susan Passon and Brian Atkinson’s Lucky Legend is the first bitch to have pups this year in the HRA.

Lucky Legend, known as Lucky  around the kennel and trail field, was lined with Tanya Satterthwaite’s Samcro, aka Ricky.

She had her six puppies (three bitches and three dogs) on January 1 and they are thriving, starting now to develop their own little characters.

Lucky is coming three this year and already has the 2025 Open Non Winners points title under her belt and will be back in action this coming season.

She was bred out of Brian Atkinson’s Breeze and sired by Lisa and Graham Whitfield’s Black Legend. Breeze was out of Silver Dollar/Prancer and was a fairly decent hound who was always consistent in the tickets and a good finisher.

Black Legend was bred by Denise Bland and is littermate to Miterdale Shadow and Jenny’s Breeze out of Jenny’s Rascal/Endeavour and was an extremely consistent hound that was rarely ever out of the tickets.

Samcro will be a six-year-old this season, meaning he will be running his first veteran year and he was 2023 Open Maiden points competition runner-up.

He was bred out of James Irving’s pair of Overwater Jazz and Overwater Seth. In his puppy year Overwater Seth was quite a successful hound winning the Open Pups at the 2018 Bitch Produce and the Open Pups at the 2018 Festival.

Overwater Jazz wasn’t as successful as Seth but was very well bred.
