The 2026 HRA annual general meeting at Hundith Hill on Sunday gave members the chance to vote on proposed rule changes that were put forward.

The results from the notice of motions were as follows:

Whitehaven Area

Proposed by Edward Crosby and seconded by Lisa Crosby that there be no more than four fixtures at any venue was defeated.

Carlisle and Penrith Area

Proposed by Andy Horn and seconded by Mark Bryden that no more than three race meetings at any one venue, no change of field or venue name using the same course, was also defeated.

Whitehaven Area

Proposed by James McClelland and seconded by Edward Crosby.

That if the above notice of notion is carried then there should be an addition which states that if the HRA wishes to host a major trail at a particular venue then this fixture is not included in the three/four was subsequently withdrawn.

Cockermouth and Workington Area

Proposed by Fiona Dixon and seconded by Darren McMaster

Addition to rule 60.1 (marked in bold text) – all race meetings shall be advertised on the official HRA website by the Secretary, on the instruction of the Promoter, at least one week prior to the meeting stating the name of the Promoter, the grades of the trails, and slipping times. No additional grades of trails may be included unless advertised seven clear days in advance with the exception of the months of June, July and August whereby All In trails may be added to the fixture with only three days’ notice. No trail may be advertised before a licence has been given under Rule 55 and full permission from land owners and other persons affected must have been obtained, The Fixture list should show all trail meetings at least one clear week in advance and it must appear on the official HRA webpage –was approved.

As from this week the association has moved over to their new website Hound Racing Association at https://houndracingassociation.com/

The old Hound Trailing Association website will no longer be updated and any users will be diverted to the new site. Searching on the internet for Hound Racing Association will find the new site.

The other main item on the agenda was for the presentation of the 2025 championship trophies and the junior competition rewards.
