St Helens’ head coach Paul Rowley could hand official club debuts out to six new players against Workington Town tomorrow night.
Five of their 2026 recruits are named in the 21 squad announced by Rowley – David Klemmer, Jacob Host, Joe Shorrocks, Nene Macdonald and Jackson Hastings.
Saints Academy talent Tom Humphreys is also included after joining the first team environment for the first time ahead of the 2026 season.
If selected to play and make his debut, Humphreys would then be allocated an official squad number.
It marks the first time that the young hooker has been named in St Helens’ senior 21-man squad.
It will be the first meeting between the two sides since the 1996 season, 30 years on from the Saints’ historic Double with the first-ever Super League title and the Challenge Cup, signalling the start of a period of dominance in the summer era of the sport.
It is also the first competitive match that new coach Paul Rowley has been in charge of the Saints.
He has selected: 1. Jack Welsby, 2. Kyle Feldt, 3. Harry Robertson, 5. Deon Cross, 6. Tristan Sailor, 7. Jonny Lomax, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. Daryl Clark, 10. Matty Lees
