Barrow Raiders make two changes to their 21-strong squad for tomorrow’s Challenge Cup clash at home to York Knights.
Half-backs Ryan Johnston and Alex Bishop come in while Trent Ruddy and Aiden Doolan drop out from the squad on duty for last weekend’s win over Salford.
The Raiders go into the game on the back of three clear cut wins – against Workington Town and Salford in the Championship and in between those, Wigan St Jude’s in the Challenge Cup.
Winger Tee Ritson is one of seven members of the current Raiders first team squad to have played in the club’s Challenge Cup tie against another Super League side Huddersfield four years ago.
He said: “It was a memorable game and a memorable day as a whole for numerous reasons.
“The occasion was huge for us and it was broadcast on the BBC too. I remember there was a real buzz around the town at the time, particularly because of how well we started the season.
“It was a great opportunity for us to go toe-to-toe with some of the best players in the game, and I think we all gave a great account of ourselves on that day and we were very much in the game until the latter stages.
“I won’t forget the atmosphere during and after the game: it was electric. Hopefully we can fill the ground on Saturday night and show exactly what we’re about, on and off the pitch.”
York have confirmed their squad for Saturday night and it looks a particularly strong one.
Coach Mark Applegarth has included a number of new signings who could all make their competitive debuts for the Knights – Paul Vaughan, Xavier Va’a and Josh Griffin while prop forward King Vuniyayawa is included on loan from Newcastle Thunder.
Barrow head coach Paul Crarey will choose line-up from: Max Anderson-Moore, Ellis Archer, Alex Bishop, Luke Broadbent, Joe Bullock, Matt Costello, Luke Cresswell, Charlie Emslie, Ryan Johnston, Ryan King, Dan Knott, Greg Richards, Tee Ritson, Ellis Robson, Jarrad Stack, Curtis Teare, Brad Walker, Tom Walker, Stevie Watson, Josh Wood, Seth Woodend.
The York squad is: Toa Meta’afa, Ben Jones-Bishop, Sam Wood, Scott Galeano, Mafoa’aeata Hingano, Liam Harris, Jack Martin, Paul McShane, Paul Vaughan, Josh Griffin, Jesse Dee, Jordan Thompson, Denive Balmforth, Xavier Va’a, Justin Sangare, Danny Richardson, Oli Field, Kieran Buchanan, Jack Smith, Nikau Williams, King Vuniyayawa.
The kick-off is 6pm.
