
Barrow slipped to their fifth successive defeat in League Town when they went down 2-1 at Notts County.
Good in parts, poor in others, Barrow are now just three points above the drop zone with a series of vital games coming up.
County, by contrast were making it six wins in a row and Matthew Dennis scored his third match-winner in four games.
The home side took the lead in the 16th minute with an unfortunate own goal from Barrow. A shot from an angle by Nick Tsaroulla took a deflection off Barrow midfielder Scott Smith to find the net. It had followed a save from keeper Wyll, Stanway who got to s cross-shot from Lewis Macari.
The Barrow equaliser was a gem, stemming from an excellent move which ended with Jack Earing driving down the right and when he cut the ball back Charlie McCann took it in his stride to thump home from 15 yards.
Some really sloppy defending from Barrow, not for the first time this season, cost them in the 58th minute. The Bluebirds failed to clear a Jodi Jones corner and Scott Robertson turned the ball into the six-yard box where Dennis prodded home his 13th goal of the season.
He should have scored again after 73 minutes but from three yards managed to steer a cross wide from three yards.
Barrow almost snatched an equaliser in the 89th minute when Joe Anderson had a shot cleared off the line by Jacon Bedeau.
