‘It was top class rugby from St Helens’ – Listen to Jonty Gorley’s verdict

St Helens will take some stopping in Super League this coming season, according to Workington Town coach Jonty Gorley.

Town were on the receiving end of a 98-2 Challenge Cup defeat on Friday night, and Gorley said Saints were superb.

“I don’t think I’ve seen a team play better for 80 minutes than they did against us. It was top class rugby league.

“I thought we might have done better on a couple of the tries but most were created from some great rugby.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that they will put on 40/50 points against other Super League sides and if they continue to play like that consistently I don’t think anyone can touch them.

“It does show the gulf between the best in the game and the rest of us, fresh from League One into a new Championship.

“We just have to take it and get on with the main business of picking up points next Sunday against Widnes.”
