The Derwent Valley Asbestos Removals league fixtures drew to a close this week, with the Division One champion Kevin Basnett completing an unbeaten season with a whitewash 5–0 victory over Mark Tunstall.
Basnett produced a masterclass of scoring racking up a series of impressive breaks — 44, 30, 56, 33, and 39.
Tunstall battled valiantly but couldn’t halt the onslaught as Basnett’s scoring power saw him storm through every frame
Andrew Mitchelhill ended the season with a strong performance to earn a 4–1 victory over Dave Chapman.
Mitchelhill began confidently, taking the opening frame with assured potting and solid safety play.
The second frame followed a similar pattern with Mitchelhill again holding control to extend his lead.
Chapman responded in the third, keeping things tight, but Mitchelhill’s scoring proved decisive as he claimed the frame to assure match victory.

Mitchelhill’s form continued in frame four, leaving Chapman staring at a potential whitewash.
However, Chapman’s best moment came in the final frame, where he produced the highest break of the match – a stylish 35 – on his way to avoiding a clean sweep and ensuring he finished on a high.
In his second fixture of the week Chapman once again found himself on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat, this time at the hands of Division One runner-up Ryan Ismay.
Ismay started sharply, taking the opening frame with some controlled potting and tidy safety.

Ismay followed with a 35 break in the second and looked in control, but Chapman hit back with some steady scoring of his own to level the match.
However, Ismay responded with authority to produce a confident performance in the third to pull ahead once more.
Ismay maintained that momentum, dominating the fourth frame to extend his lead further.
Chapman battled hard in the final frame, but Ismay calmly maintained control to close out the match 4–1.
