A man has appeared in court and admitted that he assaulted the landlord of a Whitehaven pub by hitting him in the face.
Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard today that 26-year-old Dylan Scott was reported to have been acting strangely while at a bar inside the Whittington Cat, Lowther Street, at around 9.10pm on January 9.
Scott’s behaviour was reported to the landlord, who asked him to leave.
Scott responded that he would not and then, when the landlord said he would call police, the customer invited him to contact officers.
As a result the landlord tried to eject Scott, who raised his arm with a clenched fist and hit him directly in the eye.
The landlord was not injured but suffered a headache in the aftermath.
Scott was on prison licence at the time, and had since been recalled to custody to serve the remainder of a previously imposed sentence.
In court he admitted assaulting the man by beating him.
A defence solicitor said Scott had accepted he should not have acted k the way that he did.
District judge Philip Holden imposed a two-year conditional discharge.
This means Scott, of Criffel Road, Parton, will only receive punishment if he commits another offence during that period of time.
