Millom Coastguard Rescue Team was called out yesterday after suspected ordnance was found at Bootle.
A member of the public had spotted the objects on the foreshore and called the Coastguard to investigate.
The team attended and took photos of the items, which were then passed to the Ministry of Defence for further investigation.
The team added: “Big shout out to the first informant whose What 3 Words location was right on the money.
“If, like our first informant, you see anything that looks out of place or you are unsure what it is, dial 999 and get us out we will deal with it safely and correctly.”
