Penrith and Carlisle City are both back in action tonight with Northern League fixtures.
For Penrith it’s a rearranged trip to Thornaby, always a tricky venue for a mid-week game involving the Cumbrian sides as it’s quite a journey.
The Thornaby pitch was passed fit this morning, although is not expected to be in pristine condition as Saturday’s scheduled home game with Carlisle City was called off.
Penrith were beaten 2-1 at home by Crook Town on Saturday and have a couple of injury problems ahead of the game tonight.
Manager Jim Nichols looks back at Saturday’s game and discussed tonight’s fixture below.
Carlisle City meanwhile entertain Boldon in the Brooks Mileson League Cup first round – a tie that has been postponed previously three times.
There’s a new face in the City line-up as Harry McLinden has joined the club on dual registration after recently signing for Workington.
The ex-Queens and Forfar player goes into a squad which is at full strength and looking to make progress in the competition.
City and Penrith are both still involved in the Fred Conway County Cup and the semi-final draw is being made tonight. Workington and Kirkoswald are the other two sides left in.
