
Miners B played host to Letters B in the Aspatria Pool League and got off to a flying start by winning the first four frames.
Rob Sewall pulled a frame back for the Letters, but landlord John Newall clinched the match for the Miners by taking the final singles.
Chris Hird and Darren Bowe, Richard Sunderland and Peter Mortimer won the first two doubles to give the Miners an easy 7-2 win.
Nine-year-old Danny Hird was an unused sub for Miners.
Sun Inn B continued to push for the League title when they visited Letters A and Ben Scott, Gary Miller and Geoff Banton gave them a 3-0 lead. Shaun Wilson pulled one back for the Letters, but in-form Greg Todd made it 4-1.
Rod Campbell had the second frame win for the Letters as they trailed 4-2 going into the doubles where Sun Inn B proved to be too strong.
They won the remaining doubles, to win comfortably 7-2 and keep the pressure on at the top of the table.
Throstle A made the journey to Silloth to take on Cumberland A and the home side got off to a good start with Geoff Davies winning the first frame.
However, a strong performance from Throstle soon put them into a 4-1 lead.
Mike Ramsden pulled one back by winning the last single for the Cumberland, but Throstle A won the first double thanks to Ian Johnston and John Mackenzie.
Although Cumberland won the last two doubles it was too late as they lost 5-4.
Wigton Rugby Club took on local rivals Wigton Park BC, but the match didn’t really prove to be a contes.
The Bowling Club team led 5-1 after the singles, and although the Rugby Club won the first two doubles, Brady Bell and Stephen Graham won the last doubles for the Bowling Club to take the match 6-3.
Sun Inn FC continued to look for their first league win of 2026 when they played at home to Cumberland B. But the struggles continue for the home side.
Cumberland stormed to a 5-0 lead, including Ian Tyrer with an excellent eight ball finish in his singles frame. Jonathan Gray won the last single for F.C, but the Cumberland continued their domination winning all the doubles for a 8-1 win.
League leaders Sun Inn A took on the Miners A, and David Thompson and Paul Mostyn gave the table-toppers a 2-0 lead. However, Craig Wilson and Paul Clarke pulled the match level at 2-2 for the Miners.
Michael Prescott then won the next frame for the Sun with an excellent eight ball finish, and a close last single also went their way thanks to Mel Scott for a 4-2 lead.
Thompson and Scott then clinched the first doubles which gave them the points and keep them level on points at the top of the league.
The last two frames were shared with the match finishing 6-3 for Sun Inn A.
