
Kendal Town suffered a setback in their battle for a Northern League play-off place when they lost 2-1 at West Auckland.
It had all looked very promising at half-time when the Mintcakes led 1-0 and seemed to have charge of the game.
But things changed in the second-half when West Auckland drew level from the penalty spot and Kendal had Jack Milburn sent off 15 minutes later.
Neither decision was queried by the Kendal management.
But in the first half Kendal played well and scored a nicely worked goal on 18 minutes through Jamie Looker.
Things changed early in the second-half as a 48th minute penalty scored by Craig Moody gave West Auckland the momentum they needed to change the course of the game.
Milburn was sent-off after 63 minutes, in the last defensive role he brought down a West Auckland player who would have been through on goal.
But the ten men did hang on until the 90th minute when Wayne Whitfield scored the winner for the home side.
