A Carlisle woman who stole goods from a city supermarket was brought to justice after a staff member noticed a distinctive tattoo on her neck.
In September last year, police successfully obtained a five-year criminal behaviour order against repeat offender Danielle Nicholson, 36.
The order banned Nicholson from entering a long list of stores.
Police said she had targeted city businesses and shown little regard for the rule of law.
Nicholson was jailed last November for flouting the order by entering a Co-op store in Harraby, from where she stole food and drink.
She was released from custody on licence but went on to commit more offences.
Carlisle Magistrates Court heard today that she stole products from a city Sainsbury’s store on January 6.
A female employee was made aware of two woman walking towards an exit. One was Nicholson.
“She has turned and looked and saw a tattoo of lips on her neck,” said prosecutor Diane Jackson. “She instantly recognised her to be Miss Nicholson.”
On February 19, Nicholson stole from the Co-op shop at Stonegarth on Carlisle twice on the same day, and flouted the order by entering the premises.
In court today, she admitted three thefts and one breach of the order.
A defence solicitor said she had committed the offences out of desperation rather than pure evil at a time when she had no money nor settled accommodation.
Nicholson, who gave her address as Rydal Street, Carlisle, was given an immediate 14-week prison sentence by magistrates who concluded that custody was the only option.
The order will continue to run until September 2030.
