A woman who admitted stealing goods worth over £2,500 from Booths stores in Penrith and Keswick will receive her punishment next month.
Carlisle Magistrates Court heard today that 58-year-old Michele Currie committed a spree of offending at the two shops on seven different dates between January 6 and March 2 last year.
Currie stole goods with a total value of £1,868.50 from Booths’ Brunswick Road premises on January 6, 17 and 21 2025; and also on February 1 and February 4.
In addition, Currie made off with items which had a £640 total value from the Booths shop in Keswick during two criminal visits on February 16 and March 2 last year.
Currie admitted all seven offences when she appeared at the magistrates’ court in late December.
She was due to be punished today but magistrates were told that it had not been possible for the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report.
The case was adjourned — for that report to be produced — until March 24 when Currie, of Crossways, Carlisle, is due to learn her fate.
In the meantime she remains on bail. Conditions prohibit her from entering the Booths stores in Penrith and Keswick.
