A creative new community initiative took place in Carlisle this week, writes Chris Jones.
Artship Enterprise, at Paternoster Row, brought people together through art and conversation.
The project invited anyone to drop in, pick up a brush or pencil, and participate in discussions on social enterprise and the future of the local community.
Mastermind Stephen Dunn, of Cumberland Council, said: “The idea behind Artship Enterprise is simple – to create a welcoming space where people can paint, draw, chat and share ideas about how organisations and residents can work together for the benefit of Carlisle.”
The week-long initiative brought together a range of community partners. The local foodbank played a central role, while Northern Construction supported the project by providing easels and art materials.

Several community organisations also took part, including the Cumberland Council Wellbeing Team, Pride in North Cumbria and the Carlisle Writers Group.

Visitors during the week included representatives from World Funfair Month, People First, Carlisle Urban Sketchers and Multi-Cultural Cumbria, helping to spark conversations about creativity, collaboration and strengthening the community.
