History was made at Muncaster Castle parkrun this weekend as the event celebrated its 10,000th finisher.
Pete Davison, 61, of Ulverston, was the 11th finisher at the even yesterday but was the event’s 10,000th runner to cross the finish line since the event begun in 2023.
He was awarded a one-off crocheted owl, made by Jackie Whitfull.
Jackie has quietly built something of a reputation through what many runners now affectionately refer to as the Crochet Army.
Together they create handmade milestone gifts for parkrunners and seasonal surprises.
Over the past year runners have been treated to Valentine’s hearts, Easter bunnies, and various other woolly wonders at the finish line.
