Barrow Raiders were back in the groove after a defeat and a week’s break when they won 20-8 at Dewsbury.
They had got off to a great start with an unconverted try after only eight minutes for Luke Cresswell.
They continued to force the pace and after a period of sustained pressure on the home line Curtis Teare scored a second unconverted try on 21 minutes.
But it was Dewsbury who finished the half strongly and had a long time hammering at the Raiders line before a minute before the break Jacob Pattinson forced his way over and Bailey O’Connor added the extras.
An 8-6 advantage wasn’t what Barrow had expected after bossing most of the first-half but they made up for it in the second period restricting the home side to just a 59th minute penalty by O’Connor.
That actually put Dewsbury level but from then on Barrow ground out the hard-earned points to claim the win.
Ryan Johnston restored the lead with a 61st minute penalty and four minutes later Tee Ritson forced his way through the last defenders to touchdown and Johnston converted.
They had an eight-point cushion but didn’t score again until the last minute when they broke well to score an unconverted try by Shane Toal.
