Cumbria Pool Association chairman Garry Southern marked his debut in the senior category with a remarkable triumph at the Scottish Open in Greenock.
Despite a challenging start to the tournament, Southern found his rhythm in the latter stages, producing two commanding performances against seasoned international opponents.
He secured a 6-2 semi-final victory over fellow Scottish international Nathan Irving, followed by an emphatic 6-0 win in the final against David Charlton, also a Scottish international.
This outstanding run sees Southern claim a national title at his first attempt.

The victory also guarantees his place in the Scotland squad for 2027, giving him the opportunity to compete on the European and World Championship stages.
Southern said: “I’m absolutely over the moon with this win. It’s been a while, and I genuinely thought my days of winning titles were behind me.
“I can’t wait to represent the national team again.”
