
Silloth and Maryport Athletic have both progressed to the semi-finals of the Cumberland County League’s Benevolent Cup.
Division One side Silloth beat Premier Division Keswick on penalties after the tie had finished 2-2.
In the shoot-out that followed the home side – the tie had been switched to Silloth after two failed attempts to play at Keswick – were the winners 5-5.
Leo Furesi and Bradley Williamson scored for Silloth in the game with Stephen Moss and Brad Fearns for Keswick taking it to penalties.
It was almost as tight between Cleator Moor Celtic reserves and Maryport Athletic but the League champions got through 2-1 with goals from Josh Pattinson and Cameron Moir. Sam Stones scored for Celtic.
In the Premier Division Unisun Athletic moved a step nearer the title with an impressive 6-1 at Mirehouse, in what could have been a tricky contest.
Mikey Williamson (2), Ollie Reay, Liam Graham , Josh Morley and Shane Dorward provided the goals with Macauley Woodburn netting for the west Cumbrians.
The other Premier Division game ended all square with Cockermouth and Aspatria sharing the points from a 2-2 draw.
Angus McIver and Milo Cooke were on target for Cockermouth and Aspatria got their point through Andrew Trestianu and Liam Parker.
Division One leaders Dearham United were comfortable 7-0 winners against Unisun Development as Aaron Lister (2), Taylor Manchester, Alfie Green, Ben Cairns, Samuel Scholey and Lewis Manchester shared the goals.
The other three Division One games were more closely contested, none more so than Cockermouth reserves and Windscale reserves which finished 2-2.
Troy Paterson and Joey Briers netted for Cockermouth with Nathan Leeder and Bobby Fitzpatrick levelling for Windscale.
In the battle of the Development sides Carlisle City were close to their first point against Miners but lost out 3-2.
Tyler Queen and Ben Rowell scored for City but Miners took the points through Calvin Rowell (2) and Kian Simm.
The other game saw Bransty Rangers beat their local rivals Whitehaven reserves 3-1 with goals from Alfie Cornish, Liam O’Pray and Spike Canavan. Robbie Watson was the Whitehaven scorer.
