After Saturday’s home blip when they gave away a two goal lead, Carlisle United were back on song at Aldershot.
A 2-0 win, along with Boreham Wood’s 2-2 draw at Woking strengthened the Blues grip again on the all-important third place.
Both goals came in the first-half when Carlisle were also denied by a couple of good saves from the home keeper Coniah Boyce-Clark.
They went in front on 31minutes when Chris Conn-Clarke sent over a dangerous in-swinging corner which caused lots of problems for the defenders.
Although Morgan Feeney claimed the goal it appeared to go in off Christy Grogan’s head, although he would most likely be prepared to give that one to Feeney.
The second came just before half-time and again Conn-Clarke was the provider, although this time no doubt about who got in the header.
Harvey McAdam timed his run well to reach the free-kick ahead of the home keeper and direct past him into the net.
Carlisle had more opportunities in the second half to add to their lead but couldn’t find the finish, but at the other end they defended really solidly and didn’t give the Shots much of a look in on goal.
