Nigel Clibbens has left his role as chief executive officer at Carlisle United with immediate effect.
A former insolvency and restructuring expert with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, he had joined Huddersfield Town in 2013, before linking up with Carlisle three years later.
There had been some speculation as the director has been absent from the club for some time and has not been seen at a number of recent games.
In a statement the club said: “The club would like to thank Nigel for his service and contribution during his time at Carlisle United.
“He joined the club in 2016 and played an important role across many areas of the club over a number of years, and we are grateful for his efforts.
“After careful consideration, it was determined that this was the right time to make a leadership change as the club moves into its next phase.
“An interim leadership structure is now in place to ensure continuity across club operations, and the day-to-day running of the club will continue as normal.
“Our focus remains on supporting the team and continuing the push on the pitch.
“Further updates will be provided in due course and the club wishes Nigel all the best for the future.”
