Carlisle United slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at mid-table Tamworth after they had taken the lead in their latest National League clash.
It ended an unbeaten run of three matches but they still stay in the vital third place four points ahead of nearest pursuers Boreham Wood.
It was a game of few chances and the teams reached half-time locked in a 0-0 stalemate.
It was Carlisle who broke the deadlock seven minutes into the second-half when Stephen Wearne’s shot from the edge of the area seemed to catch out keeper Jas Singh.
He seemed to be late and although got a hand to it couldn’t prevent from ending in the net.
Tamworth came back strongly after conceding and they drew level on 64 minutes when a cross from Dan Creaney wasn’t dealt with and Oscar Lynch turned it home.
It was the same pair who combined for Tamworth’s winner on 76 minutes as Lynch grabbed his second to give Tamworth an overdue win after three successive defeats.
The Blues now have a week’s break before they entertain Boston United on Saturday.
