
A Lake District walker had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering extreme chest pains.
Keswick Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Saturday, March 14, at around 1.50pm to Sail, between Derwentwater and Crummock Water.
it was alerted after walkers found a man at the bottom of the Sail switchbacks on the Coledale Horseshoe suffering from extreme chest pains.
The team said: “While the team mobilised, the passing walkers provided essential care by monitoring the casualty and providing warm layers.
“Due to the serious nature of the incident, two team vehicles were deployed via Force Crag Mine alongside an emergency request for an air ambulance from Blackpool.
“The North West Air Ambulance arrived just ahead of the first team members, and their crew took over the clinical treatment.
“The casualty was subsequently airlifted to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for urgent care.”
