A 31-year-old man has been given a suspended sentence for stalking and child sex crimes.
Ben Kelly, of Crackenthorpe, near Appleby, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday, charged with stalking and two counts of making indecent images of a child.
The case involves one child and relates to offences from early 2024 to September last year.
He was given a total of 11 months and seven weeks in prison, suspended for two years.
Kelly was given a suspended sentence and placed on the sex offenders register, as well as being made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
A 10-year restraining order has also been put in place, banning Kelly from contacting the victim and the victim’s mother.
T/DC Martyn Smith, of Eden CID, said: “We take offences like this extremely seriously and endeavour to put offenders before the courts so that can be held accountable for their crimes.
“This conviction has ensured measures are put place to protect the public in future.
“I would urge anyone who is a victim of any form of sexual offences to report this to police.”
