Sun Inn B’s captain Ryan Fisher & Adam Palmer celebrate the news that they’ve become league champions

The remaining game in Division Two of the John Peel Darts League was the clash between the title hopefuls Crown Inn at Broadfield and the Joiners Arms from Newton Arlosh.

Crown took the lead when Jamie Fleming beat Linden Wilson and Ryan Armstrong then took the second to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Joe Graham hit back for the Joiners to make it 2-1 before Adam Walton and Robert Armstrong made it 4-1 to the Crown and put them seemingly on the verge of becoming champions.

Mark Beaty pulled one back to make it 4-2 and then the Joiners won all three Doubles to win the game including a 142 Off from Wilson and a 134 Checkout from Dom Harrison.

It completed the double over the Crown and handed the league title to Sun Inn B another side over whom the Joiners did the double in a fine first season in the League which promises well for next season.

Elsewhere it was time for the three Memorial competitions to take place and with six venues hosting games it will all lead to the finalists for Presentation night on May 15 at Wigton Bowling Club.

In The Rachel Frazer Trophy the two finalists will be Aspatria Bowling Club and Tam O’Shanter, the latter winning despite a mighty scare in the semi-final against Jovial Sailor.

In the Terry and Rory Trophy the two Finalists will be Red Dial Arrows who beat Sun Inn C in the semi final, who despite not getting a point in the league, they unexpectedly thrashed Rosley in the quarters 6-0. Also through to the final are Letters Inn B.

And in the Barry Bragg Trophy the final two teams are Sun Inn B and the Joiners Arms, Newton Arlosh.

Next week’s knockout action will be for the Dickie Smithson Trophy, played out at several venues.
