Wath Brow Hornets will look to follow up a good away win last week when they resume their National League Premier Division programme tomorrow.

The Brow got their season up and running with a fine 33-10 win in Castleford against Lock Lane.

They are at home tomorrow against York Acorn, and will be reminded by coach Ian Rooney about the threat the visitors cause.

“They have won two out of three and will be on a high after a very good 26-4 win last Saturday against Waterhead Warriors.

“We had a good performance at Lock Lane and I will be looking for consistency. I’m hoping it will be a similar team as well,” said Rooney.

In Division One Kells face a second successive away game – their third in four outings so far – when they travel to Oulton Raiders.

Their hosts put up a good effort last week when they just went under 26-20 at joint leaders Wigan St Patrick’s while Kells were winning 22-20 at Leigh Miners Rangers, the table toppers at start of play.

Coach Peter Smith has now seen his side win two in a row after an opening day defeat and will be looking for his team to keep it tight in defence against the Leeds side.

Smith had brought a couple of youngsters into the squad including Tyce Walmsley, on dual registration from Workington Town and who was man of the match for the A team last week.

Their A team game this week against Seaton Rangers A has been postponed because of their opponents injury crisis at first team level.

Egremont coach Danny Barker was disappointed in his side’s 36-0 defeat at East Leeds and will be looking for a reaction when they host Stanningley.

Their two wins so far include last week’s 22-10 home win over Oldham St Anne’s.

It’s swings and roundabouts for Barker on team selection with some players back and others having to miss out.

Frazer McNee is out through injury; Dylan Morris is away training with the England Under-19s after being selected for the trip to France while he waits for news on dual registration player Aaron Turnbull and his requirements by Whitehaven.

Jayden Tyson replaces McNee at full-back and Matty Bewsher comes into the halves with Lachlan McDowell moving to his natural loose forward position.

James Newton returns after missing the trip to East Leeds while Dan Caine joins the squad.

In the Regional fixtures the top match could again be at Maryport where the home club entertain Dalton while across town Ellenborough against Barrow Island might not be far behind.

Maryport coach Mark Foster has lost hooker Chris Ivison with a dislocated shoulder, suffered against Hensingham last week so he faces a spell on the sidelines.

Full-back Liam Anderson is still missing with an elbow injury picked up at the back end of last season but he expects to be back in about a month.

Joel Baker is still missing with a niggling injury and also work commitments so coming back into contention are Kieran Featherstone and Danny Dryden.

Dalton’s coach Paul Armstrong said: “The lads have trained well in poor weather conditions this week and all are fresh and keen to get back out on the field after laast week’s postponement against Hindpool.

“We are expecting a really tough game at Maryport and we are now able to select centre Tom Farren after his return to full training.

“Niall Maudsley and Conor Grant are both expected to make the 17 after good performances in last week’s A team draw at Aspatria on their Men’s League debuts.

“We will be without our Barrow Raiders dual registration winger Dan Knott, Isaac Barber and Elliot Bibby who all have planned holidays. In addition Ioan Hayes has work commitments.

“Sadly we will also be missing Jack Crarey, who has potentially suffered a recurrence of an ACL injury that had kept him out for the last couple of seasons.”

Jack is the son of Barrow coach Paul, and his elder brother Joe is the Dalton hooker and club captain.

They had been hoping to give Jack a couple of runs off the bench for the A team but it looks as though he suffered the injury in only 10 minutes action at Aspatria. It looks as though he might help the coaching team from the sidelines.

Ellenborough are looking to build on last week’s good win at Seaton when they host Barrow Island.

Coach Paul Gorge said: “Up to now the squad is very strong even though we have John Todd and Louis Fearon unavailable.

“We have had a few lads returning to training this week and back in contention for places in the squad after injury – Gary Taylor, Ben Robinson and Shane Evitts.”

Barrow Island have a couple of familiar names coming into their squad – former Workington half back Ellis Archer, now on dial registration from Barrow Raiders along with Max Anderson-Moore under a similar arrangement.

Coach Jamie Curtis said: “We have a very young side, but a capable one with Will Hadwen, Lenni Regan, Elliot Campbell and Ollie Holmes in the squad.

“We wll be missing captain Carl McBain, Nathan Sneesby and Aidan Wright who all picked up injuries last week.”

Distington enjoyed a fine win last week at Barrow Island and they travel south again to take on Ulverston.

Coach Ryan Hodgson reports that  Bailey Worthington is off on England Lions training but they welcome back Jack Worthington from suspension, along with James Motum who missed the win at Barrow Island through work commitments.

Ulverston coach Marc Storey misses out this week along with Michael Bretherton, who had an impressive debut last week, as both are away.

Absent through injury are Evan Foster, Josh Fallows and Jack Burlerwhile coming into the squad are Scott Askew, Kian Ogden, Dave Cowsill and Warren Bolton.

Hensingham have emerged as favourites to be crowned the first champions after an impressive start and they travel to Hindpool Tigers.

Coach Andrew Smith is having to delay team selection until after a couple of late fitness tests.

Millom roared back to form last week and they entertain injury-hit Seaton Rangers, who have had to postpone their A team again because of the knock-on effect.

Brad Crellin, the Millom coach thought his side would have been a match for anyone on the evidence of their 52-6 win over Ulverston and will; be looking to follow up with another strong performance.

rellin said that they have some changes forced on them, but do welcome back Rio McQuistan who has taken a step back from Championship rugby with Whitehaven.

He comes into the squad alongside Josh Blinkhorn who is available on dual registration from Whitehaven.

In other changes the injured Niall Harris is replaced on the wing by Jackson Evans and with Jonty Peters, last week’s man of the match unavailable, Ricky Donoghue will play in the centre.

Dane Kelly will start at prop while Kyle Evans returns from holiday and will take a place on the bench.

Seaton, however, are struggling with the old numbers game.

Coach Neil Frazer said: “It’s a nightmare at the moment. We have 13 lads out injured and this week we’ve got another eight who are unavailable for differing reasons.

“But we are not complaining, just trying to get on with it as I’m sure there are other teams who have injuries and unavailabilities.

“It does give some of the younger lads an opportunity to play and show what they can do at first team level.

“Looking at the side for tomorrow we will have an average age of 20 with only four of them over 20.”
