It’s a funny old game! Bottom of the table Barrow produced a remarkable fightback to beat in-form table-toppers Bromley 2-1.
That ended Bromley’s 21-game unbeaten run which has raced them towards the championship while Barrow had not won in eight previous games.
But this performance showed there is still life in the Bluebirds as they battle against a return to the National League.
Bromley had looked in control when midfielder Ashley Charles’ sweetly curled free-kick from just outside the area gave them the lead on 35 minutes.
Whatever stand-in manager Sam Foley said at half-time it had the desire affect and the Bluebirds produced their best 45 minutes of the season.
If they can continue to produce similar efforts for the remaining seven games they can climb to safety.
Josh Gordon came up with the leveller in the 456th minute when he grabbed his seventh goal of the season by turning home Connor Mahoney’s initial shot.
But it needed two fine saves from Wyll Stanway to deny Nicke Kabamba and Marcus Dinanga and keep Barrow level before Danny Rose came up with a vital winner after 67 minutes.
There were other opportunities for Barrow to consolidate the win but Gordon couldn’t take advantage of a one-on-one with Grant Smith while the keeper saved well from both Rekeem Harper and Jack Earing.
