In the Cumbria Men’s League, the programme was turned over to the Cumbria Cup, with some exciting ties taking place.
The first four games in the competition are like football’s Champions League with a table drawn up after those have been played.
The top four will play for the Cup; those finishing five to eight will play for the Shield and numbers 9 to 12 will contest the Plate with only teams 13 and 14 being eliminated.
The tightest game was at Lowca where the home side went down 23-22 to Askam with a late drop goal from Conner Saunders proving crucial in the end.
Morgan Cubbin, Eddie Goodson, Jude Everett and Saunders scored tries with Saunders kicking three goals.
In a tightly-contested affair, Lowca had gone 12-0 ahead before Askam pulled level and it was nip and tuck after that to the end.
Ellis Crone (2), Logan Milburn and Finn Barwise scored the Lowca tries with Evan Hodgson kicking three goals.
In another exciting clash at Flimby it was Aspatria who just came out on top 34-30 after the sides had been locked together 16-16 at the break.
Flimby had led at various stages of the contest but it was Aspatria who came strong towards the end.
Ben Tootill scored a try and landed five of six conversion attempts while the other touchdowns came from Mark Irwin, Kris Beattie, Stuart Creighton, Cameron Moore and James Robinson.

The Flimby tries were scored by Dan Weir (2), Brandon Tallentire (2), Rhys Booty and Nathan Atkinson. Weir kicked three goals.
Not so close at Roose where the Pioneers beat Millom A 54-0 after establishing a 30-0 lead by half-time.
Millom were young and enthusiastic and were committed all the way but Roose had to much know how and experience for them.
The Pioneers scored tries through Sam Lester (2), Oli Morgan, Ethan Bowness, Glenn Phillips, Rob Bamber, Sam Doyle, Josh Tranter and Toby Bowness, who also added nine goals.
He collected the Roose man of the match for his performance and 22 points while Owen High took the MOM for Millom A.

An interesting clash, too, as Cockermouth Titans started the competition with a 32-22 win over Egremont A.
Man of the match Dan Woodcock (2), Max Bateson, Freddie Brough, Callum Marrs and Ethan Cross scored the Cockermouth tries with Woodcock adding four goals.
Ben Walker, Leon Crellin, Cian Sharpe, Dan Telford and Nathan Preston scored for Egremont with Lloyd Stainton adding a goal. Kaiden Block was their man of the match.
In the other game that was played Wath Brow A beat Glasson Rangers 64-16.
Chris Broadley, who has joined the Glasson coaching team this season from Askam said: “It was a very tough game for us but I thought we were competitive for long periods before Wath Brow ran away with it in the last 15 minutes.
“We were pleased with the effort areas the lads showed against a game, young and talented Brow side but Shane Williams and Tyler Beale were both really good for us.
“There’s a couple of areas where we need to work on before our next game but we have been improving on a game by game basis and that’s all we can ask of the lad.”
Williams (2) and Scott Burns scored the Glasson tries with Keelan Morris kicking two goals.
The Wath Brow tries were scored by man of the match Josh Ryan (2), Daley Stables (2), Billy-Joe Towers (2), Logan Fowler, Kaleb Crosby, Evan Alick, Brady Todd, Tom Chambers and Jake Greenhough. Goals were kicked by Towers (5) and Jenson Olstrom (3).
