Unisun Athletic are within touching distance of the Cumberland County League’s Premier Division title.
With four games each left to play they lead reigning champions Maryport Athletic by nine points.
While they were winning 3-0 against Keswick on Saturday, the Maryport side were again being held, this time at Cockermouth where the 2-2 stalemate was their fourth draw of the campaign.
Unisun’s goals came from Liam Graham, Ollie Reay and Mikey Williamson against a Keswick side under new management as Matty Thompson took over from John Phillips.
He is in a battle to avoid the drop to Division One as Keswick or Wigton Harriers will be relegated along with Cleator Moor Celtic reserves.
In their game at Cockermouth the Maryport goals were both scored by Josh Pattinson while Sam Wright and Milo Cooke netted for the home side.
Celtic reserves were beaten 5-1 at home by Workington Juniors as the visitors won with goals from Macaulay Sharp (2), Shane Roe (2) and Chad Grisdale.
There was a single game in Division One which saw Windscale reserves triumph 7-1 at Cockermouth reserves.
An excellent win for Windscale was initiated by goals from Kieran Fraser (2), Dylan McAlone, Sam Wordsworth, Layton Jackson, Ethan Messenger and Luke Elliot. Joey Briers netted for Cockermouth, whose season has rather spluttered to a stop.
In the Whitehaven Cup tightest game was between Whitehaven Amateurs and Bransty which ended 1-1. Nathan McGlennon for Whitehaven and Jamie Thursby for the visitors were on the mark which meant it went to penalties.
Not the best of shoot-outs but Bransty came out on top 2-1 with Joe Dobinson and Liam O’Pray netting the vital spot-kicks.
Title-chasing Dearham United were 4-1 winners at Silloth as Oliver Scott (2), Sam Scholey and Lewis Manchester were the successful marksmen with Jackson Slack responding for Silloth.
In the other Whitehaven Cup game Unisun Development beat their Carlisle City counterparts 3-0 with goals from Jamie Boyce, Harley Rooke and Khalid Azeez.
