Nominations are now open for the 2026 Diverse Cumbria Awards.
The awards recognise individuals, organisations and community groups working to improve equality, diversity and inclusion across the county.
Organisers said they celebrated people whose efforts often transform lives but rarely receive public recognition.
Last year’s awards saw over 200 nominations submitted from across the county, shining a light on work happening in communities, businesses, sports clubs and charities across the region.
The Diverse Cumbria Awards are organised by Your First and supported by Sellafield Ltd, BAE Systems, Nuclear Waste Services, Westmorland & Furness Council, and Carlisle Racecourse.
Ben Vollans, founder of the awards and co-founder of Your First, said: “Every year we discover individuals and organisations doing work that most people simply never hear about. The nominations give us the chance to surface those stories , and to make sure the people behind them are finally seen.”
Maria Dakova, co-founder of Your First, added: “The nomination process reminds us how much is happening across Cumbria.
“From grassroots volunteers to major employers, the breadth of work is extraordinary, and it deserves to be recognised.”
Nominations for the 2026 Diverse Cumbria Awards open today, Wednesday April 1 and close on July 15.
Submitting a nomination is free. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Saturday September 26 at Carlisle Racecourse.
